3 SIGNS YOU ARE SETTLING FOR SAFE!

INSPIRATION

In a world and era where everyone is trying to make it for themselves, my Husband and I are not out here just for ourselves, we actually believe in helping others realise their dreams too by stepping out of the safe zone and going all out for others. The one thing we are passionate about above all our own desire is the pursuit of more of God and helping others realise their purpose too. Yes, whilst it is important to have a sense of achievement; nothing beats living out Gods will/purpose for your life and this can be one the greatest challenges in life for many.

There are moments in this journey when we talk to people where we can sense that though they are well achieved and seem very content there is a jigsaw that seems to be missing from their puzzle called life and the many of these people we come in contact with are honest enough to admit this truth. Furthermore when we sit down to help individuals review and examine their life spiritually or professionally, we tend to figure out that sometimes unknowingly many of them have settled for safe over certain matters and henceforth that void or gap.

It is so easy in life to miss the mark and settle for safe rather than walking and living out loud the purpose of God for your life. However, it is never too late to get things right.

1. SELFISHNESS DOES NOT IDENTIFY WITH GOD!

When you settle for safe you become selfish and never see the point in doing things for the greater good of others. The spirit of inferiority steps in and you start becoming self conceited and always only looking out for I. However, never forget that everything we are called to do has a greater purpose than just an individual, it is to serve and benefit a greater cause. Whether you have been called as a Dr, Teacher, Assigned a relationship or whatever role you play even in the church, remember that there is always a bigger purpose than just you. The moment you start to feel like you are called to be of service to just yourself then you have it all wrong and have settled for safe.

Exodus 9:16 reads;

But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

Start moving beyond the “I” mindset and you will soon begin to have a sense of purpose and feel much more fulfilled.

2. GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION!

Many people who are not living out Gods will over their life tend to be confused because their life doesn’t make sense due to lack of purpose. They jump at every wind of doctrine and any and every opportunity even if it does not belong to them. They are in pursuit of fulfilment and sometimes instead of being still and seeking out God, they go about looking for answers in all the wrong places.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:33)

I remember when I started my business in its early days and progress was slow, a job offer with a lucrative pay came up out of nowhere from an application i had long forgotten about. It was so tempting to jump at it and leave the stresses of running a business and being self employed. I was ready to settle for safe at that point because financially it made sense. However taking that job would have meant giving up on my passion and calling. Confused about the matter, I took it to the Lord in prayer and what a friend we have in Jesus indeed. It was clear after prayer that job was not for me, the peace and clarity from rejecting that offer was unbelievable. Never forget to always consult God.

3. SHAME AND GUILT!

Have you ever noticed that anytime you have put or found yourself in a position of settling you are constantly ashamed and full of guilt. Compromise is beautiful but also dangerous. Have you ever found yourself in a position where work or a relationship is consuming you and requiring so much time from you therefore taking away form your fellowship with God? There are so many situations and life circumstances that seek to distract us from our purpose and therefore in the process neglecting our true calling and causing us to settle. If you ever find yourself in a position where you are constantly having to deal with guilt and shame due to decisions or choices you are making, it is time to re-evaluate your life and make sure you are not settling for less than what God wants for you. Anything that is blessed will never leave you feeling ashamed or guilty.
