We are literally at the end of 2017 and how this year has approached at us like a freight train! Every year and religiously from around mid November I dedicate a few moments every other day to thinking about how different my faith life is since the beginning of the year, and wondering how different the lives are of the people around me. have i touched a life or made an impact one way or another and most importantly have my actions pleased God?
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE PERSON STARING RIGHT BACK AT YOU?
I have absorbed so much knowledge this year and hope to share with you all and hopefully this will bless someone and help them in one way or another. I am a firm believer in the gift of giving and therefore love to share in hopes that my stumbles, failures and successes will help you reach your success spiritually or otherwise a whole lot faster. Without taking too much of your time, here are some important keys, lessons or life-hacks from 2017, spiritual, business and personal that i earnestly believe will help you. My mother always taught me that “Everyone you meet along the way knows something you don’t know, your job is to find out what that is.” So, this may not be of use to you today as it will be for someone; however i strongly believe there is something for everyone.
Key 1: Words Are Powerful!
Proverbs 18:4 “A person’s words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook.”
This one is more a reinforcement as my mother always instils it in us. So the question is; what impact have your words had on people or maybe even a person? You see, a million people may not read your words, it could just be the one person because that is your God given assignment. Have you therefore used your words correctly and made the right impact?
Proverbs 16:24 “Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”
Key 2: Understand your Assignment!
Don’t Be Afraid To Do What Others Say You Shouldn’t Do! Do you sometimes tell yourself I can’t do it because you fear what others will say? I have often found myself in this position, (loving those whom others feel are the unlovable, not christian enough etc because I understand my assignment.) So guess what, you are not the first to be misunderstood as not everyone will understand your God given assignment. God has a plan for everyone and as Christians we are to make differences in the world. Don’t be like other Christians, be like Christ. You might be the only Christian in your family and God can use you to get everyone saved.
James 5:20 “remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.”
Key 3: Get!
Following on from the above point, you need to learn to ask questions in order to gain understanding. Ask yourself uncomfortable questions; for example if you lets say preach! Why was do I do what I do? is a good place to start, are the motives behind my doing right?
Do i have the right knowledge and understanding of what I am offering or doing and if not, what impact will that have? You see real understanding comes to us when we begin to understand and realise the interdependence of study and prayer.
Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Key 4: Do not Over-complicate your Life!
Yes! Please do not over-complicate your life with meaningless things.
Ecclesiastes 1 Everything Is Meaningless
1 The words of the Teacher,[a] son of David, king in Jerusalem: 2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” 3 What do people gain from all their labours at which they toil under the sun? 4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.
I have quickly learnt and realised that simplifying things in my life helps me feel less weighed down.
Key 5: Your Choice!
I know people will always have their opinions about us as people, but only worry about how God sees you. This however is not a license to be horrible and excuse it with “Only God can Judge me” No! Lets be honest, you are partly responsible about how people will view you. Let your actions say something good. Every year and religiously from around mid November I dedicate a few moments every other day to reflecting about how different my faith life is since the beginning of the year, and wondering how different the lives are of the people around me. have i touched a life or made an impact one way or another and most importantly have my actions pleased God?
These are all things I put on myself while trying to live up to what I understand as the standards God expects from me and not what others think i should be like.
