I was watching the news today and it broke my heart to hear that more than 600,000 Rohingya people have crossed over to Bangladesh. I was watching the breaking news and exclusive footage Sky News have captured and seeing how they are living in terrible conditions and need life-saving assistance now. Many are without shelter or clean water.
Human traffickers are taking advantage of this plight and trafficking young girls and selling them for £5 per girl child. As an international audience watching this heart breaking footage, I feel we need to stand in solidarity with the Rohingyan’s.
The Rohingya are caught up in a deadly and desperate situation that looks like ethnic cleansing in the Rakhine State on the western coast of Myanmar (also known as Burma). Thousands of people are facing a risk of serious human rights violations and aid efforts have been shut down leaving them to unimaginable suffering.
Alex Crawford of Sky news has said;
“We have witnessed scenes of shocking deprivation and desperation among thousands of stranded Rohingya in Myanmar, including emaciated women and newborn babies who have been dumped on beaches and left to die.”
This true example of text book genocide can not be ignored. A huge proportions of people are being displaced and there is little intervention by the international community to halt this problem.

God bless you
