Emmy’s Under Fire after Christian Bashing and Racial Jokes “…people who thank Jesus at award shows are Republicans, ‘ex-crackheads,..'”

This years Emmy’s couldn’t have been anymore controversial. The show began with its usual political banter but took a bad turn during Michael Che’s opening monologue with co-host Colin Jost when he took a jab at conservatives and a particular racial group.

During Che’s monologue in the opening, he chimed

“My mother is not watching, She says she doesn’t like watching white award shows because you guys don’t thank Jesus enough.”

“That’s true,” he further stated. “The only white people that thank Jesus are Republicans and ex-crackheads.”

As if the night couldn’t get any worse, later in the evening, Best Supporting Actress winner, British Actress Thandie Newton continued the theme of mocking winners who thank Jesus and pushing an atheist agenda as she told the crowd, “I don’t even believe in God, but I’m going to thank her tonight.”

Many have reacted throughout social media:

“Disgusting!!!! Shame on these celebs! Thankful I don’t watch these garbage award shows! #Emmys host Michael Che says the only white people who thank Jesus at award shows are Republicans, ‘ex-crackheads,'” said one on social media.
