Just because you are feeling a little discouraged today does not mean your relationship with God is not Solid, or that you are any less a child of God. Everyone experiences discouragement at some point in their life. Discouragement most likely comes in when our expectations don’t align with reality.
Think about it. It really doesn’t take much at all to get discouraged. It can be one look or one word, someone’s silence or a telephone that does or doesn’t ring. The smallest things can trigger discouragement. Even our own imaginations, which may have no concrete basis, can trigger its downward spiral.
I remember one morning a few years ago where I didn’t feel like doing anything important, which is so not like me and those who know me will testify. You know one those moments when you just feel a little defeated, all because I felt my plans were moving slow (Moment of Pause. Firstly take note of ‘I’ and ‘My Plans’) and I wasn’t accomplishing what I had set out. I started overthinking things and literally had to take a moment of Pause so i didn’t drive myself crazy.[AdtoAppearHere]
I had to remind myself what Gods word says and re-align my thoughts with His word.
Proverbs 16:3 “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Everything we do and everything we say starts with a thought. Our emotions and feelings are generated from an initial thought in our mind. As Christians, we have a responsibility to keep a sound mind
Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind!
and it is important that we claim our minds back from the enemy. Do not succumb to his lies and confusion. Pay attention to what we are fixing our thoughts on and not only that but to also keep our minds stayed in Him.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace,Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
We need to have a working knowledge of His Word. We have to read, meditate and study the Word of God. Knowledge is good but we must also put into practice what His Word tell us.
Last but not least I had to remind myself what God’s word actually says about my situation;
Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God has a plan for each and everyone of us and He also wants to give us good success amongst the many promises He has for us.
Joshua 1:8
8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
I want to encourage you today and to remind you that God loves you and when you feel like things are not going your way, trust his plan for your life because he knows whats best for you. So in every situation please remember this;
Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
It is also very important in life to have someone you can talk to in moments like these, so try and establish a friendship that is trustworthy, where you can pour out with no judgements.
