Fortified faith is not an option especially in an era where fear is becoming the language of our generation.
“Men’s hearts failing them for fear… for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” — Luke 21:26
Long before the headlines, long before the chaos, Jesus told us that such a time would come.
A time when the earth would shake, and the hearts of men would collapse under the weight of fear.
Yet for the believer, fear isn’t our forecast—faith is.
We are not called to crumble.
We are called to fortify.
Just like the ten virgins in Matthew 25, we have been given a window of mercy to prepare.
-
The Shaking Is Here—But God Warned Us Ahead of Time
Jesus clearly said the last days would be marked by:
- Confusion
- Distress
- Fear
- Global instability
And He said these signs would cause hearts to fail (Luke 21:26).
But God never reveals danger without offering direction.
Hebrews 12:26–27 warns that God will shake everything that can be shaken so that what cannot be shaken will remain.
This is not to terrify the believer, but to activate the believer.
The shaking exposes what we’ve built our life upon—
sand or the Rock (Matthew 7:24–27).

Fear Will Collapse the Unprepared Heart
The Bible says that men’s hearts will fail them for fear, not because the world is too dark—but because their hearts aren’t fortified.
Scripture reminds us:
- “God hath not given us the spirit of fear.” — 2 Timothy 1:7
- “Fear thou not; for I am with thee.” — Isaiah 41:10
- “God is our refuge… therefore will not we fear.” — Psalm 46:1–3
Fear dominates the heart that has not been prepared.
Faith dominates the heart that has been fortified.
-
Now Is the Time to Fortify Your Faith Walk
Just like Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem’s walls under threat (Nehemiah 4:17–18), believers today must rebuild their spiritual walls:
-
A: Be Filled With Oil Like the Wise Virgins
Matthew 25:1–13 makes it clear: all ten virgins had lamps, but only five had oil in their vessels.
The difference was not their lamps, it was their preparation.
We are living in the hour where spiritual oil is not optional.
-
B: Guard Your Heart
“Keep thy heart with all diligence.” — Proverbs 4:23
A guarded heart is a fortified heart.
-
C: Immerse Yourself in the Word
“Faith cometh by hearing… the word of God.” — Romans 10:17
The Word is your spiritual armour, oxygen, and foundation.
-
D: Stay Watchful in Prayer
Jesus said:
- “Watch ye therefore, and pray always.” — Luke 21:36
- “Take ye heed, watch and pray.” — Mark 13:33
Prayer is the place where fear dies and faith rises.
-
God Always Preserves the Prepared
Throughout Scripture, God protected those who prepared:
- Noah built an ark before the rain (Genesis 6:22).
- Joseph stored grain before the famine (Genesis 41:35–36).
- Daniel prayed before the lions’ den (Daniel 6:10).
- The early church prayed for boldness during persecution (Acts 4:29–31).
Preparation is the proof of faith.
Psalm 91:7 promises:
“A thousand shall fall at thy side… but it shall not come nigh thee.”
The prepared believer is the protected believer.
-
The Church Must Shine Brighter as the World Grows Darker
Darkness is not the end of the church, it is the platform of the church.
Isaiah 60:1–2 says:
“Darkness shall cover the earth… but the LORD shall arise upon thee.”
When the world is afraid, the believer should be confident.
When the world looks around, the believer looks up.
Jesus said:
“When these things begin to come to pass, then look up… for your redemption draweth nigh.”
—Luke 21:28
The world sees fear.
The believer sees fulfillment.
The world sees shaking.
The believer sees the soon return of Christ.
-
The Call to Prepare Is Now
We are:
- The virgins given time to gather oil
- The builders called to restore the walls
- The watchmen placed on the wall
- The believers commissioned to stand firm in the shaking
So let us strengthen our faith, Let us deepen our devotion, Let us prepare with urgency and Let us fix our eyes on Jesus—the unshakable Rock (Hebrews 12:2).
Because while the world collapses in fear, the fortified believer stands in faith.
