God, Why Am I Here?

Many people struggle with the question of purpose .“Why did God put me here?” is a question I am certain many of us have asked ourselves, countless times. It’s an easy question to ask and, at the same time, it can be a very difficult question to answer.

However I always like to begin here: Psalm 139:14

“14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[aMarvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

This scripture for me cements the notion that, everyone of us is here because God put us here (He makes no mistakes). Whatever your doubts and fears maybe, one certain thing is that, we are fearfully and wonderfully made and also that He has good plans for us. Now,I know Jeremiah 29:11 was aimed at the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon.

However, when you relate it to ourselves, it can also apply. God has important work for each and everyone of us to do even in those times when His purposes may not always be clear to us. Many are the times we aimlessly wonder and wander in a wilderness all because we want to do things our own way and not Gods way.

Furthermore, what we constantly forget is that, when we commit our works unto the LORD, our thoughts are established. Joshua 1:8 reads; This Book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

You see the thing is, whenever we struggle against God’s plans, we cause our own suffering. When we resist God’s calling, our efforts bear little fruit. Our best strategy, therefore, is to seek God’s wisdom and to follow Him wherever He chooses to lead. When we do so, we are blessed.

So what has God called us into?

God has called us to win souls for the Kingdom, commanding us to: Mark 16:15-16 King James Version (KJV)

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
