Greg Laurie in Response to Jarrid Wilson Suicide: “Hope gets the Last Word”.

Greg Laurie took to Instagram to share his heartache in regards to the suicide of his associate pastor Jarrid Wilson.

“This is one of the hardest services I have ever spoken at, as we remembered and reflected on the life of our associate Pastor, Jarrid Wilson who died Monday.” Laurie said that although it is such a hard time, entering the sanctuary and seeing the people worshipping, “it buoyed my faith”.

He said, “It was a night filled with tears and prayers, worship and the Word.” He shared that they would have a further service at their satellite church, at Harvest OC. He stated “I asked @kaywarren75  Warren to speak as well.”

Kay is the wife of Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church. The Warrens lost their son, Matthew to suicide some years ago and Laurie felt that she had the perfect words for Harvest in their hour of mourning. He thanked Kay!

Earlier today, Laurie took to his Instagram to share this message: “as we reflect on the life of Jarrid Wilson. This is a time to mourn, worship and hear God’s Word. I will be sharing a message taken from something Jarrid often said- “Hope Get’s The Last Word” I will also welcome our very special guest, Kay Warren. Kay is married to Rick Warren, the Senior Pastor of Saddleback Church. Rick and Kay lost their son, Matthew to suicide some years ago. She will share some very important words with us. Our service begins at 7:00 PM and will be webcast live at”

Julianne Wilson the deceased’s wife, also took to Instagram to share a few words as follows:

“You’re in the safest arms, my sweet jarrid. I am confused, completely heartbroken and jealous all in one .

You are in HIS presence. What a glorious day that will be when we are all reunited at his feet together. Until then, he is holding on tight to the boys and I during these horribly dark days .

He won’t let us go. He never, ever has. I’m clinging to Him. I’m missing you. He will strengthen and help me. He will hold the boys and I up with his victorious right hand .

I have such a deep peace knowing he’s holding your hand right now too. I love you so much, babe. I miss you beyond words. I will continue to shout your anthem of hope until my very last breath .

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10”

Let us continue to pray for the Wilson family and Harvest Church.
