Many people have travelled very wide and far and even paid vast amounts in unsuccessful bids to find out what their purpose is and God’s will over their life. I am sure many of you like myself have often wondered and asked yourselves “What is my purpose?” For a very long time before I realised my purpose I remember how I would sit for hours almost in a depression like state watching the years pass me by tormented by the realisation that I was not living out Gods will over my life nor my full potential and purpose. I remember trying my hand at many things and even though I was brilliant at doing those things, it just wasn’t my calling or purpose.
Did you know any person can function brilliantly in a position and yet not be fit for purpose?
I found myself in that position often times than not. I was performing excellently in various roles but was that really Gods will for my life and was i fit for purpose? Absolutely not! Just because i did not know my purpose nor Gods will over my life, I had mastered the art of blending in and making do of whatever life threw my way whilst convincing myself that is what i was supposed to be doing just because i was good at it. But how unhappy i was!
However, one day out of the blue everything stopped and I said to myself “what if everything I am doing is in vain and God has no hand in it”. These words kept me still for the longest time that day as thoughts raced allover. I am one who is always quick to justify my actions and doings with But God you said in your word that…….. However that day I didn’t even try to tell God what i thought He wanted to hear. We have been taught to re-affirm Gods word in our quest to gain the desires of our hearts or material things and like clanging cymbals make so much noise and are constantly on the go babbling away and in the midst of it all missing what God is actually saying; all because we have already made up our minds and conclusions.
Many people don’t know that finding your purpose in life is easy and it begins with finding your purpose in God. When you find your purpose in God you live in His will and there is no better place to be than there. Here are a few principles to help you discover your purpose in God.
Seek God First
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Walk with God Daily
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Surrender your will to God’s
De-clutter your heart, mind and spirit so that God can actually speak.
Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts and neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
What is the Spirit saying
Do not become too busy with life that you miss Him when he is speaking.
John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Please share some of your thoughts.
God bless you.
