Is Your Mind A Battlefield? – Mental Health


Too many people speak and release careless or should i say idle words daily without considering the consequences. The bible tells us that: “Every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement.” This post is not to bring fear to you but rather an awareness on the power of the tongue.

The bible says “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” If a little instrument such as the tongue can have so much power, what more with your thoughts too. remember out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Whatever we allow to consume us will do only two things, either make or break us if not careful.

Philippians 4:8 reads
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”

This verse encourages us to think about positive, praiseworthy and uplifting thoughts, not thoughts that will destroy us mentally, emotionally and physically. I know that many people are suffering with stress, depression and many other problems, and it can often seem easy to tell people to not think negatively. However trusting God to see you through your darkest hours really pays off.

When we are going through, it is difficult to hear that our words really do play a part in shaping our well-being. It is therefore important to talk to God because he is the greatest deliverer and He will deliver you from every spirit that is oppressing you. There is nothing too hard for God.

I remember a friend at work who was battling negative thoughts and was constantly depressed and even took so much time off a few times because of stress and depression, one day I just thought to myself ‘God has given me power and authority as His own to speak life into dead situations’ and gathered boldness and simply asked her do you mind if I pray with you? I knew I was putting my Job on the line because she was not a believer, but I was not bothered because I knew my God was Great and I just wanted her to get better. Anyway she said I could pray with her and I just did a simple prayer leaving everything at Gods throne and asking Him to do the rest.

When I finished praying the first thing she said was; “I feel this calm and peace, my nerves are at ease I’m no longer panicking and I just can’t explain it.” I told her that was the power of God working on her and that would be her portion forever. She literally never missed work due to stress or depression after that prayer that day. We serve a miracle working God.

Do not let the battles of your mind limit you and better yet do not let them limit God. The biggest battles in life are mostly fought in the mind. In God there is no limitation, He is Alpha and Omega, Author and Finisher… Continue to trust him and keep going no matter what the obstacle is. Remember winning the battle of the mind begins with one thing, and that is taming the tongue.
