Romans 6:1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2: By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3: Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? 4: We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
We bring this topic up because we have noticed a trend of un-righteous judgement. As an online christian community our job should be to reach the lost and help restore them back. James 5:19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back. We have to remember that whilst we are not to condone sin, we have a responsibility to shepherd the lost.
Now if we are constantly condemning people how can we expect them to follow us? Many of us forget that “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8 NKJV.
We should always remember that our friends, neighbours, strangers and maybe even that guests at church is likely not to be ” a perfect person” and they are likely not to be just like us. But Jesus still died for them, just as He died for us. The same grace that was extended to you is also sufficient for them.
As Christians we need to learn to exercise love because when we love we will stop shooting arrows at people and be more warm and welcoming. We will be like a magnetic force attracting people to us and when when attract them and they come, Christ’s redemptive power will work on them. Christ did not die in vain, he died for the sinners that they may be saved. When Jesus lay down His life for us, He did it while we were still sinners, still enemies of God.
So please whilst we’re not here to condone sin let us also learn to be more kind and love on people.
A question for you today: What do you think Jesus would have us to do when dealing with people who have fallen short?
