One of my old time favourite songs tells a little story that goes like this “I am redeemed, bought with a price, Jesus has changed my whole life. If anybody asks you, just who I am, tell them I am redeemed.” This is a song that was sang by Jessy Dixon and it blesses my heart. But after Love has freed us by dying on the cross what then is our purpose? Each and everyone of us has been called to more than just filling up seats in the church pews.
Israel Houghton best described what redemption should mean to each and everyone of us “What does it mean to be saved? Isn’t it more than just a prayer to pray? More than just a way to heaven?” This is a very sincere and honest question. Surely after our redemption it is time for us to arise and show the world Gods love. We cannot afford to be selfish to experience the glory of Gods goodness for ourselves.
Easter is round the corner, I pray that we will be a shining light to the nations but not just because it is Easter but that we will even move beyond Easter in shinning our light. Matthew 5:13-16 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Maybe you are not sure that you have been redeemed, I want to encourage you today to know that Christ died for your and my sin and 1 JOHN 1:9 says;
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 Corinthians 1:30 says;
