Isaiah 40:31 New King James Version

31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

As the old saying goes, “Birds of like feathers flock together.” Eagles do not mix with other birds but only enjoy flying at their high altitude. It is this characteristic that makes eagles unique birds.

The eagle is an animal that possesses great characteristics that are really intriguing and should be of inspiration to us all.

One of the great attributes an eagle possesses is its ability to renew itself. Renew means to make new or as if new again. ‘Re’ means to go back to the original state. Did you know that when an eagle gets to what we can call old age and its abilities start to slow down, it goes on top of a mountain  where it refuses to just become stale and waste away whilst pitying itself. Yes, over a five-month period eagles extend their life span by removing their beaks, talons, and feathers in order to grow new ones which by the way is a very painful process.

However, although this process is very painful, each stage produces a regrowth of the removed body parts that “renews” the eagle and allows it to live for another 30 to 40 years.

Many of us go through seasons of drought where it feels like we have become stale and nothing is moving in our life and slowly begin to drown in self pity. It is in these moments that we should rise up like an eagle and shift our mindset. I know it is not easy, but neither is it easy for an eagle to renew itself; yet it perseveres and comes out stronger.

It is not easy being stuck between a rock and a hard place, it can be a lonely time in waiting. However, if you shift your mindset like an eagle in your waiting season, a change begins to occur and it is even visible in your attitude, and will therefore result in #progress and not just movement in your life. When you shift your #mindset, your faith will begin to increase causing you to conquer all adversaries.

Another great attribute an #eagle possesses is that, it will never surrender to the size or strength of its prey.

2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Eagles are go getters  and hold firm– while other birds flee from storms, eagle spreads their mighty wings and uses the current to soar to greater heights – God has not given us a timid spirit and therefore we should not readily relinquish our position of faith and strength, and give over to fear. Fear is crippling and blinding, we are to be like eagles, hold our ground and face our problems head on.

Are storms of life raging and causing you to run? Well, stop running from the storms that have been stirred up in your life and face them head on. By facing your storms it builds you up and renews your standing, and not only that but do not be afraid because God has the final say over you and those adversities can not withstand you.

Joshua 10:8 The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”
