Following on from (WHAT THE CHURCH ISN’T SAYING – PART ONE) of this “Empowerment Series” dedicated to young people and anyone looking to make positive changes in their life. I hope these series will be helpful you in one way or another and that you will utilise them to transform your life for better.

My favourite time of the year is Christmas time because not only is it time that signifies that my birthday is around the corner but most importantly, I love that this season celebrates our Lord and Saviour; Jesus Christ. For as long as I can remember I have had a habit whereby I utilise this last month of the year for re-evaluation and setting new goals. My love for this season has really grown over the years because for me planning is very important and lack of it can easily break you.

I believe in empowering young people especially young christian youth because today’s choices will have an impact on your tomorrow. If the church will not sit down and have these talks with you, may I hopefully be that person you can go to. So, today I’m sharing simple steps you can take to set and accomplish your goals for 2018.


NEW LEAF!

My new year always starts in the last month of each year because that is my time for preparation for what will be written in the next 365 pages of chapter 2018. There’s nothing more amazing than a fresh start. Making it to 2018 simply means God has granted you the ability to reset your old ways of thinking and behaving, and choose new ones that will serve you and Him better.

I have never really been one for resolutions because I am of the belief that if you are going to make changes in your life, then you will. However i do love setting short term, mid term and long term goals that i can follow through hence why my preparations start in December. I believe that is the right time for me to prioritise my goals.

INVEST!

The first thing to do is to invest in a planner and usually by mid November I’ve secured one for the coming year. I then write down the ways I would like to improve and changes i would like to see within the first 3 months of the new year and PRAY over my plans for Gods guidance and favour. The advantage of this way of setting goals is that i can review them at the end of each month and identify whats is working or not working well and implement changes. You can choose to treat yourself every time you achieve a goal to motivate yourself keep pressing on. This is what i call enforcing Faith with Action, which is very important.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS!

Many people in life fail because they want to start BIG! Think BIG but start small and build up to bigger steps. Always set realistic goals that you can keep up with and actually execute. Don’t overwhelm yourself as that can lead to disappointment which leads many to throw in the towel and give up. Avoid planning the complete year in detail. One step at a time and one day at a time. plan the week ahead of you and once that becomes a comfort zone and your are achieving your goals move on to monthly planning and  and 8 weekly reviews. You can then expand onto seasonal goals. The more you do it, the less scary and easier it becomes to tackle any challenge thrown your way.

RELAX!

I always say its pointless if you’re going to make a success of your plans whilst feeling absolutely run down and also failing to fellowship with God. I know the bible says a little sleep, a little slumber and poverty is knocking at your door! However its okay to get good rest but in your rest, don’t become lazy. Never confuse rest with being unproductive. Know when to shut down, but also when to work on your targets to meet your set goals. Always try to include at least one non work related tasks on your to do list. Before I even do anything work related spending time in prayer and meditating on the word of God is important for me. God is not an add on on my list, He is priority. My spiritual life matters.


The bible says “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” Many miss this important fact in life, never make that mistake.
