John 1:42 and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, He said, “You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which means “Rock”).
Everytime I read this passage my spirit is stirred because it reminds me that there is something about the transformative power of Jesus Christ. The example is clear in the above passage where Cephas transitions from what/who he was before Christ (Simon) to Cephas (Peter the Rock) whom he has now become in Christ.
Change in our lives only happens by the transforming power of God in the name of His son Jesus Christ. Christ saw Simon through a prism and saw the end to the beginning and changed his heart. We all need a heart Check and a heart change. We all need to tackle who we are to become who we are supposed to be.
We may be anger because that’s what has a hold on us but a 360 degree shift can happen if we allow Christ into our hearts. You maybe dealing with different things but the thing is that, those things that hold you bound have a name but there is no Greater name than that of Jesus Christ. Therefore that thing with a name will bow down and you will no longer be bound by it. If your name was sickness, a fountain of healing that will never run dry is coming your way.
The word of God says every good thing comes from God, that includes your joy, your peace and all the other wonderful things you can think of. The lamb of God was crucified that we may have a new identity in Him and that we may have peace.
As we approach Easter ask yourself who am I? Am I proud of who or what I’ve become? If not, start asking God to work on you.
