Don’t Forsake the Gathering of the saints!

Spread the love

Don’t forsake the Gathering of the Saints.

Come out from hiding, do not remain isolated.

Hebrew 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Have you noticed how many are falling away?

The great falling away is presenting itself in various forms i.e, being lukewarm.

There is an increase of lukewarm believers who have watered down the core of True Relationship and Fellowship.

Being lukewarm is a very dangerous place to find yourself, but why?

We read in Revelation 3:15-16 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth”

We see a perfect example of Luke warmness in the Goldilocks story.

Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl.

“This porridge is too hot!” she exclaimed. So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl.

“This porridge is too cold,” she said. So, she tasted the last bowl of porridge.

“Ahhh, this porridge is just right,” she said happily and she ate it all up.

According to Goldilocks, being lukewarm is just right. But what is good for porridge isn’t good for our spiritual lives.

Jesus tells us that “because you are lukewarm… I am about to spit you out of my mouth!”

No one wants to be in a place where you experience the wrath of God.

Notice how our passage from Revelation 3:15-16 begins: “I know your deeds.”

The focus here is on what we do, because our outward actions reflect the condition of our inner hearts (James 2:17).

Why do I say all this? Because too many have forsaken the gathering and are following from the side-lines or at a distance.

Maybe it is because of self preservation, but we would be foolish to believe we can preserve ourselves by running away from God.

I am reminded of Peter who followed Jesus from a distance in the Garden of Gethsemane. Matthew 26:58

Perhaps he truly wanted to follow but worried about the outcome of following too close?

However, the safest place is near Him in the Shadow of His Wings. Psalm 91:1-2

The bible also tells us in Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

This brings us back to;

Hebrews 10: 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

A time is coming when people will seek God but will not find Him.

The Bible tells us to seek Him whilst He may be found

Amos 8:12 People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.

We read in Matthew 24:12 that because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.

Where do you stand today and have you forsaken The Gathering?
