Overcome Discouragement and Walk in Purpose

Spread the love

Discouragement is a natural part of being human. We can see moments of discouragement all throughout the Bible:

The greatest missionary in the history of the church faced all kinds of discouraging circumstances. In 2 Corinthians, Paul describes being shipwrecked, flogged, beaten, stoned—and much more.

We also read about Rachel, Jacob’s beloved wife who could not conceive a child.

In ancient times barrenness was as good as a death sentence for a woman, imagine how she must have felt.

Rachel’s discouragement at being barren led her to bitterly cry out to Jacob,

“Give me children, or else I die!” Genesis 30:1

If you have felt discouraged, I want you to know that you are not alone in feeling this way.

Yet, this is the season to rise and overcome discouragement.

God is getting ready to burn somethings down to the ground, do not turn back and look.

When you realise what God has for you, you’ll quickly understand all that discouragement was holding you back.

Discouragement becomes an addiction that clings to us to hold us back, if we allow it.

The spirit of discouragement is very deceptive,  let it go and reject it.

God wants you to let it Go. Don’t turn into a pillar of salt, look ahead and walk forward.

Disobedience will cost you so much in this season. Do not become like Lots wife.

Lot’s wife, a disobedient woman was turned into a pillar of salt for looking back to see the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as she and her family were fleeing. Genesis 19:26

Her story is an example of what happens when you allow disobedience to hold you back and bound to familiarity.

Wake up and remember Gods love for you. You do not walk alone.

When you allow yourself to stop feeling the love of God, you’ll get discouraged. Paul writes;

“We don’t become discouraged, since God has given us this ministry through his mercy” 2 Corinthians 4:1

Difficult times ebb and flow throughout life every now and again.

Facing and overcoming adversity is a part of growth and being human. Remember, tough times won’t last forever.

As humans, we are short-sighted people unfortunately, but know God’s promises aren’t empty promises.
