When you open your bible and read about the last days and make a comparison to the current times we are living in
you cant help but tremble not in fear but reverence God and His truth in His Holy word.
The Bible in the book of 2 Timothy 3 tells us that;
2 Timothy 3:1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
And when you go to the book of 2 Peter 3 we learn that In the last days, there will be scoffers and mocker
verse 3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a]
Here we understand the depth of Gods love and patience that a day is like a thousand and a thousand like a day
because God does not take pleasure in the perishing of His people.
God says He is coming for a church without wrinkle or spot and he is giving us room to make and do right.
Therefore, I urge you to make every effort to be found spotless and blameless
We have been forewarned, to not be carried away and fall from our secure place, but to be on guard.
Let us remember that Yahshua (Jesus) the Son of the Most High God came to earth “to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).
He is searching for those who are compelled within their hearts to seek for Him with all their heart, for “He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).
Gods word says “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
This is your chance to dedicate or rededicate your life, repent and renounce old ways.
But before we pray together I just want us to quickly understand what repentance is and why it is important
before we take this journey.
Contrary to popular belief, repentance is not just “a turning from sin.” or the act of Regretting sin.
Many confuse the act of feeling remorseful as being repentant but it goes beyond that.
In the Bible, the word repent means “to change one’s mind.”
The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions (Luke 3:8–14; Acts 3:19).
In summarizing his ministry, Paul declares,
“I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds” (Acts 26:20).
Therefore the short biblical definition of repentance is “a change of mind that results in a change of action.”
So, today let us a make a bold decision to not just feel bad about our actions.
But, let us take that further step to change and transform/renew our minds so that there can be a change in our actions/behaviour.
Let us pray together
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways.
I believe You died for my sins, and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven.
I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Saviour and Lord.
From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.
