What is The Occult?
The occult or occultic world revolves around the action or influence of supernatural or supernormal powers or some secret knowledge of them.
The “occult” usually evokes evil connotations associated with witchcraft and sorcery, summoning the dead, and ritual sacrifice.
Why are we discussing this topic today?
First, because we are living in a time where people are hungry for the tangible and manifest presence of God.
Secondly, because we are living in a time where too many people are looking for answers in all the wrong places.
Lastly, because there is a rise in deception in the world and some places within the body of Christ.
Today, many people are being lured to dabble with the mystical and occultic world because people are hungry and thirsty for the power of God.
However, with many places of worship void of the power of God people end up searching elsewhere.
Besides this, the entertainment and celebrity culture has fooled many into believing it is okay to dabble in these sorts of practises.
Recently I was on Tik Tok just browsing when I came across a testimony a young lady sharing about her Astral projection journey.
Upon watching this video, I felt that I needed to bring warning both to the young and old regarding the occult, portals and dimensions.
Is there anything wrong with being involved in these type of practises?
The simple most honest and straightforward answer is YES.
YES, it is very wrong to participate in any shape or form of these occultic practises.
The Bible is very clear on this subject and strongly rejects these type of practises.
When you read your Bible, you will quickly realise that God’s word indicates that these type of practises are Satan’s way or strategy to keep you bound.
Satan and his cohorts are dead set in the art of tricking you into self destruction.
Without a doubt, there is a good reason why Ephesians 6:11-12 tells us to;
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
God absolutely detests and abhors these evil practises.
Deuteronomy 17:2–5 (NKJV) “If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing His covenant, who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones.”
When you participate in these evil practises, you open yourself up to demonic influence.
The Kingdom of darkness looks for open doors to gain entrance into ones life.
Satan has no authority to demonically influence or take over a Christian, unless he is given legal right to do so.
When our spiritual defences are down, we become vulnerable to attacks.
You have to remember, demons are master’s of intrusion and lurk waiting for an opportunity
Hence why, 1 PETER 5:8 NKJ tells us;
“Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.”
The Living Bible Translation uses more graphic words:
Be careful watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart.
What the Bible is clearly telling us is that if we are not careful demonic intrusion can occur quickly.
Therefore it is of utmost importance that we be vigilant or on-guard at all times.
In the letter to the Ephesians (1:3-10), St. Paul tells us that God chose us in Jesus Christ before the world began.
We are called to be holy and without sin in his sight. God called us to be his children through Jesus Christ.
In Jesus and through his Blood we have been saved and our sins forgiven.
This is how generous God our Father has been with us.
And He has given us the wisdom to understand this mystery, this plan He revealed to us in Christ.
Therefore I ask you today, do righteousness and wickedness have anything in common?
Absolutely no common ground. There cannot be any fellowship between light and darkness!
Gods word tells us;
“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 19:31
God commands us to have no other gods before [Him] (Exodus 20:3).
The Lord did not and does not want His people to give their hearts, souls, and minds to anything ahead of Him.
When we participate in iniquity, God simply cuts us off.
Isaiah 59:2 reads: But the trouble is that your sins have become a barrier and cut you off from God. Because of sin he has turned his face away from you and will not listen anymore.
God finds it abhorrent when we participate or turn to the occultic. It is a violation of His command.
Do not open yourself up to evil because of disobedience or trying to be cool.
God’s rules, laws or guidance, are not there just for the sake of it, they exist for our protection.
When you dabble in divination, witchcraft, astral projection or whatever forms of demonic practises
You end up opening up portals or accessing dimensions you shouldn’t.
As I shared earlier that I heard a young lady talking about dabbling with astral projection
and the spirit of God rebuked her in a clear voice disapproving in disdain what she had chosen to do.
She said the spirit of God told her never to do that again. Find this testimony on Tik-Tok and watch it,
Not many people understand about legal rights, but for the People who understand you know about spirits that control territories.
When you mess around with the occult and choose evil, you open yourself up to demonic and unclean spirits.
You will need deliverance.
Deliverance casts out evil spirits (a.k.a. “demons”), helping people overcome negative experiences through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Repent and deny evil. Close those portals you allowed yourself to open and dimensions you have tapped into.
Once you repent, make sure you keep your vessel filled with the word and a sincere prayer life.
Because, the bible tells us that:
“When a defiling evil spirit is expelled from someone, it drifts along through the desert looking for an oasis, some unsuspecting soul it can bedevil. When it doesn’t find anyone, it says, ‘I’ll go back to my old haunt.’ On return it finds the person spotlessly clean, but vacant. It then runs out and rounds up seven other spirits more evil than itself and they all move in, whooping it up. That person ends up far worse off than if he’d never gotten cleaned up in the first place. “That’s what this generation is like: You may think you have cleaned out the junk from your lives and gotten ready for God, but you weren’t hospitable to my kingdom message, and now all the devils are moving back in.” Matthew 12:43-45 MSG
Christ has given us freedom, so let us not do things to jeopardize that liberty.
1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
As Christians, we are given many warnings against occultic practices in the Bible.
For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images. Psalms 78:58 (NKJV)
Always be vigilant and do not get carried away:
Colossians 2:8 reads; Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.
If we do not keep our eyes on Jesus and continue to study His Word, we can very easily fall into deception.
Remember to check everything against the Word and test the spirits to see if they are of God.
Do not become those people who provoke God to anger by their sinful actions toward Him and others.
Yes, God is a loving and caring God, but He is also a God of judgment, and one day God’s anger will be felt.
Stop walking contrary to the commandments of His Word because it will bring His wrath upon you.
